On Sunday, 21 Jul 2013, the 2nd round of the 2013 Texas Electric Onroad Series (EOS) took place at the famous Mike’s Hobby Shop in Carrollton, Texas. This is the second season for the Texas EOS, which has been gaining in popularity with each successive race. Round two was no exception.
The Texas EOS Modified Sedan class showcases several current and former national-level drivers, including Ron Atomic, Michael “Toastie” Toth, Chris Metheny, and Brandon McNally. Chris Adams dominated qualifying with a 27-lap run, and went onto win A1 handedly. A2 saw Adams roll his car in the first corner, which allowed Andrew Doherty to take the lead. Adams would eventually catch Andrew and take the lead with only four laps remaining. However, Adams would once again roll his car, and Andrew took the win, giving him 1st overall. Adams and Ron Atomic finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
In 17.5 Spec Sedan, the battle was between two Dallas, TX locals, Han Wu and Greg Geibel. Han ran a nearly perfect first qualifier, leaving everyone fighting for second on the grid. Han would eventually finish two seconds ahead of Greg in A1 and .2ths of a second ahead in A2. Greg and Doug Pilot Bryson finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
In 1/12th scale, Andrew Doherty and James Lundberg battled for the Top Qualifier position, with Lundberg ultimately capturing the honor. Lundberg went onto post wins in both A1 and A2, with Doherty and Russel Hamilton finishing 2nd and 3rd in the class.
The F1 class became the Ray Rabe show. He easily set the Top Qualifier mark, and went onto win the 12-minute main event by two laps. Texas EOS round one winner, Robert Bremer, finished 2nd, and Dallas, TX local, James Titus, finished 3rd.
Vintage Trans Am was filled with excitement as Tommy Regan, Ricky Garner, and Bob Seay battled it out with Tommy eventually taking the Top Qualifier position. During the A1, Tommy dropped from first to 9th, putting him almost a lap down at the start. However, Tommy kept his cool, made his way back to the front, and passed Ricky for the lead on lap 42. Tommy went on to take the win by five seconds, with Ricky and Michael Loyd finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
The Texas EOS and Mike’s Hobby Shop would like to thank all of the participants, and invite everyone to round three in San Antonio on 8 September.
Once again Austin represented really well. The first race of the year had a total of 75 entries, which is over 25 more than what we had at the first race last year. Thank you very much to Hobbytown USA for representing the EOS so well and being such great hosts!!!
See you all in Rd. 2 in Dallas!

We also have had to make a small change. The first event will now be hosted by Austin Hobbytown South at South Park Meadows. Hey guys! We are back for yet another season of the Texas EOS. The Schedule is set and over the next week we will start updating the website with the year's Sponsors and Several tweaks and rule changes. Please take the time to read the rules so we can all get on the same page and get our cars ready on time!
For this second year, we have scheduled 2 events in Austin, 1 event at World Famous Mike's Hobbyshop in Carrolton, TX and the finals will once again be run at Gulf Coast Raceway in Porter, TX.
One of the biggest changes for the year will be our scheduled rain dates for the complete year. The Rain dates will be set at exactly 3 weeks after the called event. In the Event of the Finals, they will be held on a Saturday, and if a rain date is needed, we will use Sunday if the weather looks to improve. If the weather outlook is bleak, we will call the event ahead of time and re-schedule with the Gulf Coast GP again.
For now, we leave you with the schedule for the year:
Race 1: Austin Hobbytown North - June 1, 2013 Austin, TX
Race 2: Mike's Hobbyshop - July 21, 2013 Carrolton, TX
Race 3: Als Hobby Shop - September 8, 2013 San Antonio, TX
